Simmons Garners SUNYAC and ECAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honor

FREDONIA, NY—Junior Jake Simmons (Rochester, NY/School of the Arts) was tabbed by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Monday afternoon as Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. On Tuesday, he was honored as the ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Week.

Simmons averaged 26.5 points in a pair of home wins over Potsdam and Plattsburgh on the weekend.  He scored 16 points in just 20 minutes in Friday's 86-63 win over Potsdam on Friday and his 37 points in the 110-68 victory against Plattsburgh were one short of a career high.  His nine 3-pointers were one shy of tying the SUNYAC single game record set by Cortland's Dave Maggiacomo who was 10-of-12 from the arc against Fredonia on Jan. 13, 2007.
Simmons leads the Bengals, averaging 21.2 point-per-game this season.  He also moved into third-place on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,346 career points.

Buffalo State is back in action Friday when it welcomes New Paltz to the Sports Arena for an 8 p.m. game.
