Five Tabbed to ECAC All-Star Team; Burridge Player of the Year

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced that Oswego State senior forward Chad Burridge was voted ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Oswego junior forward Hayden Ward and Buffalo State junior guard Jake Simmons joined Burridge on the ECAC Division III Upstate First Team, while Brockport’s Khyeem Green and Cortland’s Jesse Winter were selected to the Second Team.

Burridge and Ward led the Lakers to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a program-best record of 26-4 and the program's first conference championship since 1965. Burridge averaged 16.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while setting the school record in career blocked shots at 253. Ward posted 15.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest en route to 13 double-doubles.  

Burridge has now received back-to-back SUNYAC Player of the Year, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) East District Player of the Year, ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Year, and First Team NABC All-America honors. He was also named D3hoops.com East Region Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season.
 
Simmons was second in the conference in scoring, averaging 20.7 points-per-game.  He set new school records for free throw percentage (.864) and 3-pointers in a season (94), and led the conference in each category.  He was also second in the SUNYAC with 51 steals.  Buffalo State ended the season 18-9 overall and was 11-7 in league play. 
 
Green led the Golden Eagles in nearly every major statistical category, offensively and defensively. Green finished tops on the team with 15.1 points per game which also put him with the sixth best percentage in the SUNYAC. Green's 7.7 rebounds per game topped the team and he finished with 1.88 blocks per game. In 26 games played, Green scored in double figures 25 times and posted seven double-doubles.
 
Winter led Cortland with 14.8 points and 4.2 assists per game. He ranks fourth in the SUNYAC in assists and seventh in scoring. He's shooting 77.6 percent from the foul line and averages three rebounds per contest. Winter scored in double figures in 21 of Cortland's 29 games, including a career-high 36 points in an overtime win versus Buffalo State. Cortland finished 22-7 and defeated Alfred in the ECAC Div. III Upstate New York championship game.

ECAC All-Stars, Players of the Year and Rookies of the Year are eligible if selected as their primary conference's award winner or all-conference first team selection. The teams and major award winners are voted on by coaches – who were not permitted to vote for their own players – from the ECAC membership.
