Schoner, Hopkins and Humphrey Take SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects Canton teammates Niko Schoner and Nate Hopkins as its Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Goaltender of the Week respectively while Cortland's Conor Humphrey is the Rookie of the Week.

Schoner recorded his second hat trick of the season, this one a natural hat trick, as he scored three consecutive goals in the Roos 5-1 win against Potsdam on Sunday in the North Country Tournament. The sophomore finished with a +3 on-ice rating for the game. On Saturday Schoner scored the team's second goal of the game to tie it at 2-2 midway through the third period in an eventual 4-2 loss to Tufts. Schoner now leads the SUNYAC with 10 goals and is tied for first with 13 points.

Hopkins stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced (.970 save %) in a 5-1 win against Potsdam on Sunday in the North Country Tournament in his lone appearance of the week. The junior stopped 26 shots over the final two periods including a remarkable 17 in the second period. Hopkins improves to 2-0 on the season with a .944 save percentage.

Humphrey had a strong week for the Red Dragons, scoring three points on two goals and one assist, while also recording an on-ice rating of (+2). The freshman netted a goal and an assist in Cortland's 8-3 victory over nationally fifth-ranked Curry on Saturday afternoon, scoring in the first period for the Red Dragons with a wrist shot on a breakaway. He also provided an assist for Cortland in the third period to secure the victory. On Sunday afternoon, Humphrey found the back of the net for a short-handed goal, skating the length of the ice and ripping a shot into the corner of the net.
