
Prepszl, Werber, and Zotter Take Home SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Canton's Jordan Prepszl and Nolan Zotter are this week's SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Rookie of the week respectively, while Potsdam's John Werber takes home the Goaltender of the week honors.
Prepszl, a defenseman, registered a team-high three points on a goal and two assists in an unbeaten 2-0 conference weekend for the Roos. He opened the weekend with a goal, an assist and +2 on-ice rating in a 4-3 road win at Buffalo State (12-9) on Friday. He had the primary assist on Canton's first goal and gave the Roos a 3-2 lead at 5:14 of the third period. On Saturday Prepszl had the primary assist on the Roos first goal at 13:30 of the third period in a 2-1 OT win at Fredonia.
Werber helped the Bears to a 2-0 SUNYAC weekend with a 1.50 goals-against-average and a .959 save percentage. On Friday, he stopped 46 shots as the Bears upset No. 14 Cortland on the road. On Saturday, Werber just missed a shutout by two minutes, turning aside 25 saves in a 5-1 win. His play has helped catapult the Bears into fourth place in the conference.
Zotter registered a goal and assist in an unbeaten 2-0 conference weekend for the Roos. He opened the weekend scoring the game-winner at 11:31 of the third period in a 4-3 road win at Buffalo State (12-9) on Friday. On Saturday the rookie assisted Canton's first goal in the third period of a 2-1 OT win at Fredonia.
