Plattsburgh Men's Ice Hockey's Kevin Weaver-Vitale Earns CCM/AHCA Third Team All-American
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Graduate student defenseman Kevin Weaver-Vitale (Toronto, Ontario/Markham Royals) was named to the 2024-25 CCM Hockey/AHCA Division II-III Men's All-American Hockey team, earning East Third Team honors. This is Weaver-Vitale's first All-American honor.
Coming back for his fifth year at Plattsburgh, Weaver-Vitale proved to be a vital piece for the Cards this year, serving as a team captain and leading the team with 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists, all career-high marks. The strong performance earned him his second straight All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors, earning first-team plaudits this year. His 27 points were also the top mark among SUNYAC among defensemen. The Toronto-native also ranked first on the team with a +13 plus-minus and was tied for third with 25 blocks. Weaver-Vitale also tallied two game-winning scores and two power-play goals, earning two SUNYAC Player of the Week honors during the season. He began the season with a fantastic game against VTSU-Castleton, putting together a two-goal, two-assist performance for a career-best four-point night. Against SUNY Potsdam on Jan. 22, he tallied a three-point night, scoring once and adding two assists, also finishing the game with a plus-minus of +6. Perhaps his most important goal of the season came in overtime against Buffalo State, as he tallied the game-winner to help the Cards start their five-game win streak that lasted until they fell in the SUNYAC Championship game.
Plattsburgh State concluded their season in the SUNYAC Championship game, as they lost to Oswego State 5-2 and finished the season 16-11-1.
