
Cortland Sweeps SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week Honors
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland's Domenic Settimo (Athlete), Ronan Mobley (Goaltender), and Sam Christiano (Rookie) take home this week's SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week honors, completing a sweep for the Red Dragons.
Settimo had a stellar performance in helping the Red Dragons clinch the #1 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament, scoring four points on three goals and one assist in a 10-2 victory over Morrisville on Friday evening. He also won 13-of-15 faceoffs (86.7%) in the game.
Mobley played a large role in a 2-0 weekend for the Red Dragons and helping to secure the #1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, recording a .940 save percentage and 1.50 GAA for the weekend. The junior stopped 32-of-33 shots in a 2-1 road victory over Oswego on Saturday, tying the Cortland program record for victories in a single season with 17. That followed up a strong outing on Friday night in a 10-2 win at Morrisville, where he stopped 15 shots and made two saves on breakaways in the opening four minutes of the contest when the score was still tied.
Christiano had a strong final weekend of the regular season for Cortland, scoring four points on three goals and one assist in two games, while also recording an on-ice rating of (+3) and scoring one game-winning goal. The freshman netted two goals and providing one assist in a 10-2 victory over Morrisville on Friday to help Cortland clinch the #1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. In the first period, Christiano scored the game-winning goal with a wrist shot, and finished off a 2-on-1 opportunity for his second goal of the night just two minutes later. In the second period, Christiano provided the primary assist on Cortland's fifth goal to help secure the victory. In a 2-1 win at Oswego on Saturday, Christiano also scored the opening goal of the game in the first minute of play.
