
SUNYAC Announces Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects Buffalo State's Jason Kwestel as its Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week. Oswego teammates Brandon Milberg and Jesse Horacek are the Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Kwestel had an impressive weekend for the Bengals leading the team to a weekend sweep of Post University and Arcadia. On Saturday against Post, Kwestel had two goals while winning six faceoffs. On Sunday against Arcadia, Kwestel added another goal and an assist and has now scored in three of his last four games.
The Lakers hosted their annual Holiday Classic and goalie Brandon Milberg was awarded tournament MVP for his efforts. In round one, he held Neumann University scoreless saving 15 total shots. In the championship game, he came up with 29 more saves to shut out the Alvernia Golden Wolves and tallying 44 saves for the weekend. He currently ranks second in the SUNYAC in GAA (1.60), and third in save % (.927).
In the first round of the Lakers annual Holiday Classic, Horacek helped them secure a dominating win over Neumann University. The freshman earned himself a hat trick in just two periods of play. He is currently second on the Lakers with 5 total goals and he has also added 4 assists for a total of 9 points so far in his freshman season.
