SUNYAC teams selected to host, compete in NCAA playoffs

CORTLAND, N.Y.- On Monday afternoon, the NCAA announced the playoff brackets across fall sports.  The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) had six teams, in four different sports, who were selected for the postseason.  Five of the teams were chosen to be hosts for the first round of their repsective tournaments. 

Field Hockey

The Cortland Red Dragons (17-3-0), SUNYAC Champions this season, were picked to host the NCAA First Round of competition on November 8 againts Keene St. (14-8-0).  The winner of this matchup will travel to play The College of New Jersey on November 11.  Watch the action or follow along with live stats.

Volleyball

SUNYAC Champion Brockport received and automatic bid and will travel to the campus of Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio for First Round play (Nov. 10-12).  The Eagles (26-8) will face Juniata (23-8), a school from Pennsylvania who won the Landmark Conference Championship this season.  Play begins at 12:30 on Friday, November 10. If they win, Brockport would face the winner of Wittenberg/Penn St.-Behrend.   

Women's Soccer 

The Geneseo Knights (16-1-2), this year's SUNYAC champion, was selected to host First-Round action.  The Knights will face Penn St.-Berks (15-5-1), winners of the North Eastern Athletic Conference.  The game will begin at 11 on Saturday, November 11:00.  The winner will face Misericordia/Hamilton in Second Round on November 12.  

Men's Soccer

SUNYAC Champion Oneonta (15-1-2) will host First Round competition against NEWMAC Champion Worcester Polytechnic Institute (13-5-2) on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00.  The winner will go on to play either Rochester or Connecticut College in the NCAA Second Round.

Cortland (15-3-0), who finished first in the SUNYAC during regular season play, will host a battle with Skyline Conference Champion Mount Saint Mary (12-7-0) at 11:00 on Saturday, November 11. The winner will face Middlebury/Stevens Institute in Second Round action.  

Buffalo St. (14-2-3) also earned a hosting role in this year's tournament.  The Bengals will play Liberty League winner Hobart College (10-4-4) on Saturday, November 11, at 7:30. The victor will move on to play Messiah/Castleton on Sunday, November 12.
