Harrington and Personius awarded weekly honors for baseball

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its weekly award selections for baseball. This week's Athlete of the Week is Cortland's Matthew Personius, and this week's Pitcher of the Week is Cortland's Mike Harrington.

Personius, the senior outfielder batted .667 (4-for-6) with a walk, three RBI and four runs scored in a doubleheader sweep vs. Plattsburgh to help him earn Athlete of the Week. He went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in each game. In an 8-1 win in the opener, he singled in Cortland's first run in the third and drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. In an 11-0 win in the nightcap, he reached on a bunt single and scored in the first and singled in a run in the fourth. The Binghamton native ended the week with an .714 on-base percentage as well as having no errors fielding.

Harrington, Pitcher of the Week, was able to hold the Cardinals scoreless for all five innings he pitched to help Cortland seal the doubleheader sweep against Plattsburgh. This marked Harrington's third win in the last three appearances, as well as matching his season high with seven strikeouts in the win over the Cardinals. For the season, the Glens Falls native is 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA through six appearances, four as a starter.
