CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to announce that Oneonta's Kayla Clohessy is the recipient of the 2018 Dr. Dolores Bogard Award. This distinguished annual award is given to a senior female student-athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability as voted upon by the membership body. Additionally, the student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.

To cap off her track & field collegiate career, Clohessy was named the team's Most Valuable Player during this season, where she earned fourth place in the long jump at the 2018 SUNYAC championships. The senior from Pearl River, N.Y. is also a three-time All-American, having earned two of these honors during the 2016 season - one during the indoor season and one during the outdoor season, as well as one in 2018. Throughout her career, she was a five-time NCAA qualifier, 2016 SUNYAC indoor long jump champion, and 2016 ECAC outdoor long jump champion. A six-time All-Conference member and six-time SUNYAC championship medalist, she holds the school record for both the indoor and outdoor long jump.

Clohessy finishes her career at Oneonta with a 3.54 overall GPA in fashion merchandising. Her success in athletics and academics earned her the honor of joing the Chi Alpha Sigma National Athlete Honor Society. In addition to this recognition, she is also a member of the 2018 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. She was honored with Oneonta's Dr. Joseph Heissan '63 Senior Achievement Award. This award is presented to a senior athlete was a four-year varsity athlete, has legitimate athletic and academic credentials, and showed exemplary leadership, character and work ethic while a varsity athlete.

The women's award is named after Dr. Dolores Bogard, who was an administrator and coach at Cortland for over twenty years. She served as SUNYAC President during the 1987-88 year.
