SUNYAC selects Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Plattsburgh junior Marissa Jones (Sauquoit, N.Y.) as Track Athlete of the Week and Plattsburgh junior Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) as Field Athlete of the Week.

Jones broke a 12-year program record and ran the 11th fastest time in NCAA Division III in the 400-meters at the Valentine Classic hosted by Boston University on Friday. Jones ran a regional qualifying time of 57.44, which is currently the fastest time in the SUNYAC and third in the region. She was the fourth DIII athlete to cross the finish line and was 38th overall of 172. Jones was the anchor leg of the 28th fastest 4x400m relay in the NCAA for DIII, which was the second fastest time in program history. The relay ran a time of 4:00.92 which is currently the third fastest time in the region and second fastest in the SUNYAC.

Junior Brianna Coon finished 15th of 39 in weight throw with a mark of 46' 5.5" and was 18th of 41 shot putters with a mark of 37' 3.25" at the Valentine Classic hosted by Boston University on Friday.
