SUNYAC Announces Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the first 2018 winners for Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week. This week's winners were chosen out of nominations from across the conference. 

This week's offensive athlete of the week is the senior attacker from Oneonta Taylor Casey. In a 3-0 week for the Red Dragons, Casey registered 19 points on 11 goals and eight assists. She posted a career-high 12 points in a 21-8 victory against Simmons College. She added another goal and two assists in the 14-12 win over Misericordia. She ended the week with a four-goal performance in the 20-9 win over Farmingdale State.

This week's defensive athlete of the week is the senior goalie from Buffalo State Elyse Stark. Stark posted a .482 save percentage and a 9.67 GAA in a three-game week, backstopping the Bengals to a 2-1 start to the season. She made four saves in the season opener to record just the second shutout in school history in a 21-0 win over Houghton. She added nine stops in an 18-17 loss to Lycoming and then made 15 saves in a 17-11 victory over Allegheny.
