NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Geneseo won its third-straight and fifth overall SUNYAC softball championship title, Saturday at New Paltz's Mary Gray Deane Field. With the win, the Knights earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
The No. 3 Knights went undefeated in the three-day double elimination tournament. On Saturday, Geneseo topped New Paltz, 3-2 and Buffalo State, 1-0, to take the crown.
Rebecca Schwartz, Geneseo's third baseman, was named the Tournament MVP after hitting over .400 with seven hits including two triples and five RBI in four games.
