MARSHALL, T.X. - The SUNY Geneseo softball team saw their season come to an end on Friday, May 19 as the Knights fell in the NCAA Tournament to Texas Lutheran, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Geneseo struggled early on, allowing two early runs before sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Schmitz and the defense recorded three straight outs to close the first inning.
  • Trailing 8-0 later in the game, Iris Kahris hustled down the first base line and forced an errant throw by the Bulldogs third baseman to give the Knights their first base runner of the game. Unfortunately, Geneseo couldn't capitalize and start a comeback attempt.
  • The Knights limited Texas Lutheran to just one run in the final three innings, but couldn't get their bats going and ultimately fell, 9-0.

QUICK FACTS

  • Elizabeth Eberhardt threw 2.1 innings of relief and didn't allow a run, while Mattie Woodard also threw an inning and struck out three batters.
  • The Knights reached the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight year, and six times overall with five in the last six years.
