Vuotto and Szymkowiak Earn SUNYAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The SUNYAC recognizes Cortland's Tyla Vuotto as the first Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the 2024 season. Fredonia's Abby Szymkowiak is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Vuotto helped lead Cortland to a pair of victories to begin the 2024 season over the weekend, scoring five points on two goals and an assist in wins over R.P.I. and Arcadia. The sophomore midfielder recorded an assist for the Red Dragons on Friday evening, and tallied Cortland's first two goals of the game on Sunday with a pair of right-footed shots into the bottom left corner of the net.
Szymkowiak collected her first shutout of the season in a 2-0 over Franciscan, making four saves. She had 11 saves in a 2-0 loss to ranked John Carroll University.
