
2024 SUNYAC Women's Soccer Top Honors Released
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2024 women's socccer All-Conference teams and annual awards including Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.
Offensive Player of the Year - Rachel Eisert, New Paltz
For the second year in a row, Eisert has been voted the SUNYAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. She led the league with 26 points, 13 goals and four game-winning goals in conference competition. She is also ranked No. 1 overall with 35 points, 15 goals and five game-winning goals so far this season. The Hawks were the top seed after finishing the regular season 8-0-1 in the conference. Eisert was named the SUNYAC tournament MVP after leading her team to the program's second-ever conference championship title. Eisert and her team will continue their season in the NCAA tournament.
Defensive Player of the Year - Maddie Franklin, New Paltz
The Hawks' goalkeeper, Franklin was credited with seven conference wins in goal with six shutouts. Overall she has a 14-1-2 record so far this season. Franklin tallied 11 saves in league play and 43 overall including a season high eight saves on September 11. She was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team after recording two shutouts to help her team win the 2024 championship title.
Rookie of the Year - Olivia Kilmer, Buffalo State
Kilmer started all nine conference games for the Bengals and is ranked third in the league with 16 points and eight goals. Overall she totaled 23 points on 11 goals and an assist in her freshman season. Kilmer had three game-winning goals in conference play which is ranked second in the league and added two hat tricks in her first season. Buffalo State finished the regular season ranked fifth with a 5-4 conference record. The team finished the season in the first round of the SUNYAC tournament with an overall record of 8-10.
Coaching Staff of the Year - New Paltz
The New Paltz women's soccer team is led by head coach Mike Eckberg and assisted by Samantha Trimblett and Jess Funke. The staff guided their squad to a 8-0-1 conference record to secure the No. 1 seed going into postseason play. The team went on to beat the reigning champions, Cortland, for the program's second-ever conference championship crown. The Hawks last won the SUNYAC women's soccer title in 2011. With the conference championship win, New Paltz earned an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament and will face Amherst in the first round at University of Rochester, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Hawks, 15-2-2 overall are in the mist of the best season in program history, recording the most wins in its 39-year history.
