Eisert and Spendal Earn SUNYAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects New Paltz's Rachel Eisert and Cortland's Kristen Spendal as its Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Eisert had 10 points last week in back-to-back SUNYAC wins. Against Morrisville, she led the team with two goals including the game-winner, recording three shots two on goal in 17 minutes of action. On Senior Day in a win against Canton, Eisert scored a hat-trick with three goals off three shots to have a perfect 1.000 shot-on-goal percentage in an efficient 39 minutes played.
Spendal made five saves while recording a perfect save percentage and two shutouts in a 2-0 week for Cortland. The senior stopped two shots in a 3-0 victory over Oswego on Wednesday evening, including a clutch save early in the second half to keep the game scoreless. She followed it up with a three-save performance on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Potsdam for her sixth shutout of the year.
