Buffalo Sports Information Department
BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State has announced that Victoria Caruso has been elevated to the interim head women's soccer coach for the upcoming 2025 season. Caruso has been part of the coaching staff for the program since the 2018 season following a stellar four-year playing career with the Bengals.
The 2024 season featured one of the best seasons in nearly a decade for the Bengals as they earned their first postseason appearance since the 2016 season and saw three All-SUNYAC selections as well as the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in Olivia Kilmer. Since joining the Bengals staff, Caruso was responsible for serving as the lead technical trainer, responsible for defensive tactical planning, managed administrative and travel planning, and co-lead for recruiting.
"I am beyond excited for the opportunity to lead our women's soccer program for this upcoming season. This is a full circle moment for me, starting as a player with this team over 10 years ago. I am ready to continue the development and progress we have made over the past few seasons and looking forward to making another big jump in the SUNYAC this season. I would like to thank Coach Margolis for his effort and commitment to our program over the last four years. He was not only a great coach for the team, but a great mentor for me and our other assistant coaches. We wish him the best of luck with his next adventure at Wellesley College. I am counting down the days until the team returns to campus and we take the field again!"
During her playing career, the midfielder was a four-time All-SUNYAC selection, finishing her career with 15 goals and 32 points in 76 career games. She was an integral member of the Bengals' SUNYAC Championship in 2016 and is the only player in school history to score a goal in the NCAA Tournament.
A native of New Windsor, NY, Carusso holds multiple bachelor's degree from Buffalo State, completing her undergraduate studies in computer information systems and health and wellness in 2018. Caruso also holds a master's degree in sport management from SUNY Cortland in 2022.
