Pucciarelli joins Fredonia's athletic department

FREDONIA, N.Y. - Fredonia State alumna Angela Pucciarelli has been named Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator, succeeding Megan Valentine, who has become the Director of Athletics at Hilbert College.

"I am ecstatic," Director of Athletics Jerry Fisk said, "to add someone with the qualities and work ethic of Angela Pucciarelli to the Blue Devils Athletics staff. She brings some unique qualities to the table, and the fact that she is an alumna makes it an even better fit. She has big shoes to fill, replacing Megan, but I am very confident she is up to the challenge."

A Fredonia native, Pucciarelli has a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Medaille College, earning magna cum laude in May 2013. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fredonia State, attained in May 2009, and an Associate in Science in Business Administration from Jamestown Community College, attained in May 2007.

She is currently working on her doctorate of Philosophy in Organizational Learning and Leadership at Gannon University.

Pucciarelli's post-graduate work began as a marketing and sales intern for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, followed by a year as an athletic administration graduate assistant at Hilbert College, during which she assisted the athletics department in game management, marketing, sports information, and compliance.

She spent a year as a marketing and event coordinator at The Center of Sport Skill Measurement and Improvement, a startup athletic testing company. In Sept. 2013, she was named assistant director of athletics and academic compliance at Jamestown Community College, a post she held until her appointment at Fredonia.

While working at JCC, she was adjunct faculty member in the junior college's Physical Education Department. She also taught a course in the St. Bonaventure University School of Management.

Her committee work at JCC included the creation of the Lady Jayhawks Women of Worth, a club which focuses on the unique needs of female student-athletes. She serves on the board of directors of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame and the Chautauqua County Youth Bureau and is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, among other groups.

A women's basketball player at both JCC and Fredonia State, Pucciarelli combined for over 1,000 career points and earned NJCAA Academic All-American status at JCC as well as student-athletic academic awards at both schools. She served on the Fredonia State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
