CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) chose both the Athlete of the Week and Pitcher of the Week from Brockport. The Athlete of the Week is first basemen Anthony Eaton (Troy, N.Y.) and Pitcher of the Week is Trevor McCarthy (Mohegan, N.Y.)
Anthony Eaton was a force in the middle of the lineup in both games for the Golden Eagles. In a marathon game that ended in a 13-9 loss, the senior collected three hits in four at bats including a double. The hits led to three RBI and he scored one run himself. Eaton also had patience at the plate working a walk. In the following game against Gwynedd Mercy, Eaton continued to display patience by getting on base thanks to two walks and a hit by pitch, one of which led to him scoring a run. Overall, the first baseman finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored, three RBI, three walks and, a hit by pitch.
Trevor McCarthy pitched Brockport to their first win of the season in a convincing 8-0 fashion over Gwynedd Mercy University. The junior threw 7.0 shutout innings, while giving up only three hits. Four of the seven innings he pitched were 1-2-3 innings as he struck out eight batters, walking only two.
The Brockport Golden Eagles take on Alfred State University on Saturday, February 23rd with a start time of 1:30 p.m.
