No.15/20 Golden Eagles Eliminated From NCAA Tournament by No.11 St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The No.15/20 College at Brockport women's lacrosse team fell to No.11 St. John Fisher College in the second-round of the NCAA Championships Sunday afternoon, by a score of 18-7. With the loss, the Golden Eagles have been eliminated from the NCAA post-season, finishing the year with an overall record of 16-5. The Golden Eagles 16 wins earns them the most victories in program history.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – 
 

  • Brockport fell into a one-goal deficit to start the first-half as the Cardinals buried the first goal of the game with 28:47 on the game clock.
  • The Golden Eagles responded quickly as Sara Grapevine scored a backhanded hockey style goal on the oppositions netminder to tie the game at one.
  • The Cardinals went on an eight-goal run to take a 9-1 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first-half.
  • Brockport snapped the scoreless streak as Victoria Thompson buried the Golden Eagles second goal of the game with 7:50 remaining in the half.
  • The Cardinals added another tally with three and a half minutes remaining in the half but the Golden Eagles showed no let up, as Heather Conklin found Jade Williams for a Brockport goal moments later.
  • Brockport entered the half-time break trailing, 10-3.
  • The Golden Eagles allowed two Cardinal goals to start the second-half trailing, 12-3.
  • Hannah Cullen got the Golden Eagles back on the board with a free position goal, followed by an Allison Jennings tally that cut the Cardinals lead to seven goals.
  • The Cardinals responded with five consecutive scores.
  • Cullen answered with another tally for the Green and Gold with six minutes to play in the game, followed by a Thompson goal to bring the score to 18-7.

KEY STATISTICS – 

  • Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles finish the year with the most wins in a single-season, tallying 16
  • Thompson led the offense with three points on the day, tallying two goals and adding an assist
  • Cullen and Conklin picked up two points each
