Cortland Men's Lacrosse sweeps Athlete of the Week Honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland for both men's lacrosse weekly honors. Terrence Haggerty (Harborfields, N.Y.) earns his second Athlete of the Week honor in a row and Marc Esposito (West Babylon, N.Y.) earns the Goalie of the Week title.

Haggerty scored nine points on eight goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Red Dragons. In a tough 14-10 loss against third ranked RIT, Haggerty was able to net four goals, three in the fourth quarter alone. He then tallied four goals and one assist, again scoring three fourth-quarter goals, as Cortland defeated Plattsburgh 15-6. At this time, Haggerty leads Cortland with 53 points on a team-high 40 goals and 13 assists.

Esposito posted a 1-0 record with a 6.54 GAA, 26 saves, a 70.3 save percentage, five ground balls and three caused turnovers in two games for the Red Dragons. In the loss against RIT, Esposito came off the bench to make 12 saves, only letting in five in 40:55 of play. At Plattsburgh on Saturday, Esposito earned his first career start saving 14 shots, adding four ground balls, and one caused turnover in Cortland's 15-6 victory over the Bears.

The Cortland Red Dragons stay on the road for their next two games traveling to Geneseo on Wednesday (4/10) for a 4 p.m. start time and Oneonta on Saturday (4/13) set to start at noon.
