OSWEGO, N.Y. – The No. 25 Oswego State men's basketball team survived an overtime battle against Baldwin Wallace University in the NCAA Division III Championship Second Round. Oswego advances to the Sweet 16 for the second time in four seasons, which matches its furthest push into the postseason in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oswego and Baldwin Wallace combined for seven lead changes and nine ties over the course of the 45-minute contest, with the Lakers holding their leads for 25 more minutes than the Yellow Jackets. Neither team held a lead of more than seven points for the duration of the tilt.
- Baldwin Wallace had the ball with a 2.5 second difference with the shot and game clocks at the end of regulation. Oswego's defense was able to force a wild, off-balance three was the shot-clock expired. The shot missed the rim for a violation, giving Oswego 2.5 second for a game-winner.
- Joe Sullivan inbounded the ball from behind half-court and Liam Sanborn was able to get off a good look from three but it fell just off the right-side of the iron as time expired.
- In overtime, Oswego held Baldwin Wallace to just a single field-goal on five attempts while make three of its own on the same amount of chances.
- Sanborn and Sullivan were a combined 3-for-4 on free throws at the end of overtime to ice the game, including each making the front-end of a 1-and-1 situation with the Lakers clinging to a one-possession advantage.
- The Lakers' work in the post proved to be an issue for Baldwin Wallace, as Oswego owned a significant rebound margin (46-31), doubled its opponent in second-chance points (22-11) and scored 12 more points in the paint (42-30).
- Tyler Pierre paced the Lakers in both buckets and boards, recording his 12th double-double of the year with a season-high 16 rebounds paired with 14 points.
- A couple of Lakers did out-score Pierre, however, as Brandan Gartland and Sanborn each finished with a game-high 20 points.
- Gartland was efficient, shooting 7-for-11 from the floor, 3-for-5 from deep and a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line. The junior chipped in five boards and a pair of blocks as well.
- Sanborn made eight field-goals from inside the 3-point line and knocked down four free throws to reach the 20-point plateau. The sophomore also had a team-high four assists to go along with five rebounds.
- Also reaching double figures in the point column was Sullivan, recording 12 points and missing a double-double by just one rebound. Sullivan was efficient as well, shooting 4-for-6 from both the field and the charity stripe.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego moves to the Sweet 16 and will face No. 22 Marietta College on Friday. In the other side of the four-team pod will be a pair of schools from Illinois, No. 3 Augustana College and Wheaton College. The location and times of the game will be determined on Sunday or Monday.
