Geneseo Women's Track and Field Competes at NCAA Championships, Earn Multiple All-American Awards

Birmingham, A.L. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team traveled to the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the two day NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships.

Highlighting day one of competition was the Distance Medley Relay (DMR), with Erin Eivers (1200m), Gwen Shepardson (400m), Sierra Doody (800m), and Windsor Ardner (Mile) placing third overall and capturing All-American status with a time of 11:35.95.

In the 60m hurdles, Shepardson ran a 8.75 to place 9th overall. Ardner also ran the 800m in 2:12.64 to place 10th overall. In the pentathlon, Janelle Eckl scored a total of 3181 points to cap off her first national championship meet.

In the mile, Marcie Hogan broke the school record with a time of 4:54.12 to place her 8th overall in the preliminary round and qualify for the final. In the 5000m, Penelope Greene ran a new personal record with a time of 17:14.01 to place 11th overall. Rachel Hirschkind and Kathleen McCarey also ran the 5k placing 16th and 17th respectively.

DAY 2 - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team took on day two of the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on Saturday. Starting day two early for the Knights was Katelyn Jacques, placing 7th overall in the triple jump. Jacques' jump of 11.81m went on to claim an All-American status. Teammate Ally Alvira also competed in the triple jump and placed 17th overall, with a mark of 11.36m.

In the Mile, Marcie Hogan placed 6th overall with her time of 4:53.67. Hogan's time became a new school record and secured an All-American honor. Geneseo went to finish 21st overall at the meet.

The Knights will have a couple weeks off before the outdoor season gets underway. They will be back in action when they host the Geneseo Early Season Invite on 3/31-4/1.
