SUNYAC Releases 2021 Baseball, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Track & Field Scholar Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its 2021 Spring Scholar Athlete of the Year honorees for baseball, men's lacrosse and men's outdoor track and field. During each season, the conference recognizes student-athletes for their efforts in their sport, as well as their academics. Out of hundreds of spring athletes, one athlete from each sport was selected for this distinction.

In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.

Baseball - Ryan Enos, Oswego

Enos, the senior from Oriskany, N.Y., was also named the Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2019. He carries a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in both wellness management and business administration and taking a minor in athletic coaching at Oswego. Enos was the recipient of the Elite 20 award and named to the All-Tournament Team at the SUNYAC championship this season. He was voted the 2021 SUNYAC Bob Wallace Co-Player of the Year and was named to the first team All-Conference. Enos also earned first team All-Region from both the American Baseball Coaches Associateion (ABCA) and D3Baseball.com. 

Men's Lacrosse - Kevin Cook, Geneseo

Cook, the junior from Northport, N.Y., was a 2021 United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Honorable Mention. He was named to the All-SUNYAC first team after totaling 39 points (28 goals, 11 assists) and leading the league with 3.11 goals per game. In the SUNYAC tournament, he scored five goals and added three assists, but fell to Cortland (11-8) in the championship game. Cook, an economics major, holds a 3.49 cumulative GPA and maintained a 3.93 in the spring semester.

Men's Track & Field - Collin Barmore, Fredonia

A sophomore from Gerry, N.Y., Barmore is a double major in interdisciplinary studies and environmental science with an overall GPA of 3.62. He won the SUNYAC title in the 800 meter run at the 2021 outdoor track and field championships (1:54.82). Barmore also ran the third leg on the 4x400 meter relay which finished second in 3:26.68. The quartet went on to finish third at the All-Atlantic Regional Meet in a season-best 3:21.79.
