SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized Cortland's Dante Yacovone as the Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week and Geneseo's Mark Pav as the Goalie of the Week.
Yacavone registered career highs of nine points and six goals, adding three assists and three ground balls as Cortland (8-3, 5-1 SUNYAC West) claimed the top seed in the SUNYAC West with a 16-5 win versus Oswego Friday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. With his nine points, Yacavone became the 58th player in program history to surpass 100 career points and currently sits at 108 points on 63 goals and 45 assists. For the season, he leads the Red Dragons in points (46), goals (29) and assists (17).
Pav posted a career-high .773 save percentage on Friday as the Knights defeated visiting Brockport, 8-5, earning a playoff spot and securing the second seed in the SUNYAC West. Pav turned away 17 shots and allowed just five goals as the Knights defeated the Golden Eagles in their regular season finale. Pav leads the SUNYAC with a .645 save percentage and ranks second in the league with a 7.97 goals against average.
