SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors Plattsburgh's Stephen Kane and Geneseo's Mark Pav with its Men's Lacrosse Weekly awards.
Kane, the Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week, recorded 10 points on nine goals and one assist in a 1-2 week for the Cardinals. He scored three goals and added an assist in the Cardinals' 13-3 season- and SUNYAC-opening win over SUNY New Paltz on Monday before netting three goals in a 10-9 loss to SUNY Oneonta on Friday. On Saturday against No. 15 Union, he posted his third hat trick of the week with three goals in a 19-6 loss to the Dutchmen.
Pav was named the Goalie of the Week after he recorded 16 saves and added five ground balls to earn his first collegiate win in net as the Knights defeated Cortland, 10-9, on Friday at College Stadium. He also recorded his first career assist, hitting senior defenseman Tyler Bushnell in stride on a half-field outlet pass to set up a Bushnell goal. Pav leads the SUNYAC with a .643 save percentage and saves per game (18.0).
