CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland (21-1) edged Brockport (10-3) by two goals, 15-13, to win the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse championship, Saturday at the Cortland Stadium Complex. This is Cortland's 22nd women's lacrosse conference crown and first since 2018. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division III women's lacroose tournament. Brockport awaits a potential at-large bid as the No. 4 rank in the East region.
Senior Hannah Lorenzen and freshman Toni Cashman led Cortland on offense with five goals each while senior Paige Potter had 11 saves in goal for the Red Dragons. Junior Allison Jennings had five goals for the Brockport Golden Eagles. Lorenzen was named the Tournament MVP while Cashman, Potter and Jennings were named to the All-Tournament team.

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year there was a tie between Brockport teammates Alexandra Dimatos and Erin Wegrzyn with a 3.91 GPA. Dimatos and Wegrzyn are both juniors pursuing a degree in nursing.
