SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Geneseo's Emily Pomainville has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season while Brockport's Chanyce Powell is honored as the Field Athlete of the Week.
Competing at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, Pomainville posted a 4:22.47 to win the event and set the Geneseo and SUNYAC record in the event. Pomainville's finish was the ninth-fastest mark ever in the event at the NCAA Division III level and ranked first in the event across all of NCAA Division III this season.
Chanyce Powell took first place in the long jump at the Brockport Multi Invitational, leaping 5.38 meters. Powell then won the triple jump with her top distance of the season, 11.21 meters. After her day she jumped up to 29th in the triple and 43rd in the long jump nationally.
