SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Oswego's Brendon Frank the Baseball Athlete of the Week and Brockport's Tom Kretzler the Pitcher of the Week.
In six games for No. 22 Oswego last week, senior Frank went 12-for-25 with eights runs scored and nine RBI. The Saratoga Springs native had a pair of doubles and a pair of triples while adding five stolen bases to his weekly resume. He had 13 putouts with no errors in the outfield for the Lakers. Oswego will host Oneonta on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the conference championship semifinal round.
Kretzler allowed just one hit and held Oneonta scoreless over the course of six innings as the Golden Eagles defeated the visiting Red Dragons 15-2 at home on Saturday. He struck out six to earn his fourth win of the season. He also batted .316 in a six game week for the Golden Eagles. In Monday's 9-4 game one victory over Cortland he hit his conference-best eighth home run of the season, a grand-slam, to help Brockport defeat the nationally-ranked Red Dragons. The home run was the 21st of his career and he is now Brockport's all-time leader in career home runs. He totaled six RBI's, seven runs scored, walked five times and stole two bases in six starts last week.
