CORTLAND, N.Y. - Geneseo won the 2021 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) softball title, Saturday at Cortland's Dragon Field. With the win the Knights earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Cortland defeated Geneseo in the first game of the best-of-three championship series, 1-2 (Box Score). The Knights came back to win the second game in the tenth inning, 12-7 (Box Score), to force a third game. Geneseo won game three, 9-5, (Box Score) to take its first SUNYAC softball championship crown since 2018 and third overall.

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among her peers. This year's winner is Cortland's Kelly O'Gorman who holds a 3.91 GPA and is pursuing a graduate degree in literacy education.
