SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named men's track and field athletes Ezra Ruggles from Geneseo the Track Athlete of the Week and Tony DeYoung from Brockport the Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.
Ruggles paced the field in the 1500 at the Geneseo Roundtable Invitational. The sophomore finished the event in 3:56.50, finishing first ahead of several NCAA Division I athletes.
DeYoung continued his dominance in the shot put, taking home first again with a distance of 15.73 metes at the Roundtable Invitational. He led the way as Brockport had five throwers inside the top-10 for the event. DeYoung also took second in the discus with a toss of 48.12 meters. He also was one of five Golden Eagle throwers to place in the top-10 for the hammer throw event.
