BUFFALO, N.Y. – The 2023 SUNYAC men's and women's swimming and diving championships finished day two of the four day meet, Thursday at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center at Erie Community College (ECC). The championship will continue Friday at 10 a.m. See the full schedule here.

Women's

500 freestyle - Kimberly MacDonald, Geneseo, 4:59.32

200 individual medley - Kenzie Fischer, Geneseo, 2:06.85 

50 freestyle - Elizabeth Sagan, Brockport, 23.59

200 freestyle relay - Elizabeth Sagan, Sawyer Parker, Nicole Orcutt and Emily LeFrois-Heath, Brockport, 1:37.88

Men's

500 freestyle - Charlie Wangelin Geneseo, 4:33.62

200 individual medley - Jack Cimorelli, Geneseo, 1:49.42

50 freestyle - Jake Nielsen, Geneseo, 20.27

1 meter dive - Trent Makowiec, Geneseo, 556.40

200 freestyle relay - Mark CrockerJordan Nielsen, Sam Matthews and Nielsen Geneseo, 1:19.82

Record Breakers

Wangelin broke the SUNYAC meet record swimming a 4:33.62 in the men's 500 yard freestyle. The previous record of 4:34.96 was set by John Nasky (Geneseo) in 2015.

In the men's 200 yard individual medley, Cimorelli topped his own time from last year (1:50.08) to set a new meet record at 1:49.42.

Nielsen set a new meet record in the men's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.27 to break the record (20.38) set by Connor Mergler (Buffalo State) in 2016.

The Geneseo men's 200 freestyle relay team broke the conference and meet records that were set in 2018 and 2017 respectively.

Greg Gelinas, Director of Sports Development for the Buffalo/Niagara Sports Commission, presented Tom DiCamillo, commissioner of the SUNYAC, a $2500 check Thursday night in support of bringing the SUNYAC Swimming & Diving Championships to Buffalo.

"Every year the Buffalo Niagara Sports Commissioner supports the SUNYAC and its student athletes by providing a financial gift that helps offset costs in holding our Swimming & Diving Championship in the city of Buffalo," DiCamillo explained. "The annual support is greatly appreciated."
