Cortland Sweeps SUNYAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has chosen Cortland teammates Jayden Kelley and Kristen Spendal as this week's Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Kelley helped lead Cortland to a pair of home conference wins last week as the Red Dragons claimed the top seed in the upcoming conference playoffs, scoring three goals. In a 6-0 victory versus Oneonta on Wednesday, Kelley scored goals in the 34th and 38th minutes as Cortland built a 4-0 halftime lead. She then netted the game-winning in the 29th minute in a 2-0 win versus Brockport on Saturday. For the season, Kelley has 15 points on seven goals and one assist.

Spendal recorded a 2-0 record with six saves, a 0.00 GAA and one solo shutout last week for Cortland, which earned the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. She made one save in the first half of a 6-0 home victory versus Oneonta on Wednesday and stopped five shots, all in the second half, in a 2-0 home win versus Brockport on Saturday. For the season, Spendal has posted a 12-1-3 record with a 0.47 GAA, an .875 save percentage and eight shutouts.
