2022 SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Awards Released

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has announced its 2022 women's volleyball annual awards including All-Conference Teams, Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the year as voted on by the conference coaches.

Player of the Year: Zoe Staats, Cortland
Staats has tallied 300 kills for an average of 3.09 kills per set totaling 327.5 points for the Red Dragons so far this season. She also has 53 total blocks and added 34 digs. Staats helped lead her team to a undefeated record in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed going into the postseason. The team went on to win its second-straight title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second-straight year.

Defensive Player of the Year: Emily Haber, Geneseo
Harber led the league with 5.41 digs per set totaling 476 digs this season for the Knights. She had a season high 40 digs in a match vs. Buffalo State on Oct. 21. Harber was named the SUNYAC Defensive Athlete of the Week four times in 2022. Geneseo finished the regular season 6-3 and was No. 4 going into the conference postseason, but lost, 3-0, in the semifinals against the eventual champions, Cortland.

Rookie of the Year:
Emma Reilly, Cortland
In her first year, Reilly leads in the league with 92 total blocks. She added 170.5 points and 113 kills so far this season for the Red Dragons. Cortland won the 2022 SUNYAC championship as the No. 1 seed and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. Reilly was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team after leading her team with 11 blocks. 

Coach of the Year -
Erin Glickert, Cortland
This is Glickert's second-straight SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year honoree after repeating as conference champions in her fourth year at Cortland. The Red Dragons went 9-0 in conference play to take the No. 1 seed going into the league's championship tournament. Cortland defeated No. 4 Geneseo, 3-0, and No. 2 Brockport, 3-2, to win its 21st overall conference title. Glickert coached five All-Conference athletes this year including the Player of the Year, Zoe Staats, and the Rookie of the Year, Emma Reilly. The team is making its second-straight NCAA DIII tournament appearance and 26th overall. The Red Dragons defeated Rowan in the first round, 3-0, Thursday at Juniata College and will play in the second round, Friday at 7 p.m. against the top-seeded host Eagles.
