2022 Women's Tennis Preseason Poll Released

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The New Paltz women's tennis team has been picked No. 1 in the 2022 preseason poll as voted on by the conference coaches.

The Hawks last won the conference crown in the spring of 2021. They finished the 2022 spring regular season as the first seed going into the conference championship, but fell to No. 2 Oneonta in the finals, 5-4. This season, New Paltz will compete to win its eighth overall conference crown.

The Oneonta Red Dragons won their first-ever SUNYAC title in the spring of 2022 under head coach Lonnie Mitchel, before he retired at the end of the season. The team will look to defend the title in 2023 under interim head coach Whitney Kraft.

Geneseo ended the 2022 spring regular season 5-2 in the conference to clinch the third seed going into the league tournament. The Knights fell to Oneonta, 5-0, in the semifinals. Geneseo has 11 SUNYAC championship titles in program history including seven straight from 2011-17.
