Kelleher and Dell Aquila Tabbed SUNYAC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The SUNYAC has selected Brooke Kelleher from New Paltz as the Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week and Geneseo's Julia Dell Aquila the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Kelleher was the catalyst offensively for SUNY New Paltz in a 2-0 week in the SUNYAC. She scored the game-winner on the road against Oneonta after opening up the lead for the Hawks in the 14th minute and book-ended the 3-0 win assisting on her team's third goal of the game to lead her team in points in the victory. On the road against Buffalo State, Kelleher put away her third goal of the year after giving SUNY New Paltz a 1-0 lead over the Bengals to once again ignite the Hawks offense in the eventual, 3-1 win.
Senior center back Dell Aquila held strong on the Knights side of the field this past week. She was a key factor in keeping Fredonia to only one shot, and Oneonta to only two shots on goal. In the two games Geneseo's conference opponents scored just one goal and Dell Aquila helped the Knights secure a 1-0 shutout against Fredonia.
