SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has selected Rachel Eisert from New Paltz and Kristen Spendal from Cortland as this week's Women's Soccer Offenisve and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Eisert helped the Hawks to two 3-0 wins on the week, scoring in both matches including what was the game-winner against Potsdam to open up the game. In 41 minutes off the bench, Eisert totaled four shots, two on target including the game's third goal of the day. She earned the start against the Bears and didn't take long to get her team on the board, scoring in the sixth minute off a set piece delivered by teammate Emma Voege. She registered five shots in the win to also lead her team in 53 minutes of action.
Spendal posted a 1-0-1 record with a 0.50 GAA, seven saves, an .875 save percentage and one shutout last week for the Red Dragons (3-0-3). In a 2-0 win at previously unbeaten Ithaca on Wednesday, Spendal registered five saves in recording her third consecutive shutout. She then stopped two shots as Cortland played to a 1-1 tie at 23rd-ranked Plattsburgh on Saturday. For the season, Spendal has posted a 3-0-3 record with a 0.36 GAA and an .895 save percentage with three solo shutouts.
