SYRACUSE, NY – Cortland graduate student Zoe Staats and sophomore middle blocker Alexa Guedez have been named the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week.

Staats, the veteran right side led Cortland with a combined 32 kills and had a .439 attack percentage in three matches as the Red Dragons went 3-0 at its own season-opening tournament. She started with 12 kills and just one error in 22 attempts in a 3-0 win over St. Lawrence, followed by 12 kills in a 3-1 triumph vs. Western New England. She wrapped up the Red Dragon Classic with eight kills in a three-set victory over Hartwick.

Guedez totaled 10 blocks - six solo - over 10 sets in a 3-0 weekend for Cortland at its season-opening Red Dragon Classic. She had seven blocks (five solo), along with six kills, in a four-set win over Western New England, and she registered three blocks and three kills in a three-set win over Hartwick. For the weekend, Guedez averaged 1.00 blocks per set as she dominated along the frontline. She also totaled 20 points, including 12 in the victory over Western New England.
