Thompson and Bowen Earn Volleyball Athletes of the Week Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Brockport teammates Jordan Thompson and Madalyn Bowen have been named the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Thompson finished the week with a total of 67.5 points from 43 kills, 20 service aces, seven block assists, two set assists, and one solo block. Against RIT, she had a career-high nine service aces against the Tigers. She managed a .250 hitting percentage and her 43 kills in 14 sets averaged her for 3.07 kills per set. Thompson now leads the SUNYAC in points (181.5), points per set (4.5), kills (131), kills per set (3.27), service aces (36) and service aces per set (0.90).

Bowen recorded a total of 79 digs in four matches this past week. The Golden Eagles faced off against RIT on Wednesday followed by traveling to Greensville, PA for the Thiel Tournament where they took on Thiel, Alma College and Grove City. the defensive specialist/libero had a season-high 27 digs against Thiel on Friday night. In total, she averaged 5.64 digs per set. Apart from her usual libero duties, Bowen also helped the team offensively by recording 10 service aces in four games including a career-high five service aces against Grove City. after the weekend, Bowen now leads the SUNYAC in digs per set Averaging 5.06. Her 162 digs this season ranks her second in the conference in digs.
