Simzer and Buchanan Earn Field Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has picked Oswego's Kacie Simzer as this week's Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week while Brockport's Ella Buchanan has been tabbed the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
This week Simzer, the Clinton, N.Y. native, had four goals in the Lakers' 5-1 victory over Keystone College. With these four goals, Simzer tied Oswego State's single-game goal record and single-game points record with four goals and eight points total in the contest. This season, Simzer leads the Green and Gold in goals (9), points (20) and game-winning goals (2). On top of leading her team in these categories, Simzer leads the SUNYAC in points, shots, shot percentage and shots on goal.
Buchanan played the full 60 minutes in net for Brockport in the 6-2 victory over Utica last week. She came up with three saves and allowed two goals in the match. Buchanan's effort in goal helped push the Golden Eagles to 4-1 overall on the season.
