Galluzzo and Franklin Named SUNYAC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland's Jaden Galluzzo and New Paltz's Maddie Franklin earn SUNYAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards for the week ending September 25.

Galluzzo, the Offensive Athlete of teh Week, helped guide Cortland (5-0-3, 2-0-1 SUNYAC) to a pair of home conference wins last week, scoring eight points on three goals and two assists. In a 6-1 victory versus Potsdam on Wednesday, she scored two goals, including the game winner in the 55th minute. In a 4-0 victory versus Oswego on Saturday, Galluzzo recorded a goal and two assists with her goal in the 22nd minute being the game-winning score. Her two assists came on corner-kick serves that led to to a pair of header goals. For the season, she leads Cortland with 16 points on a team-high seven goals and two assists and has moved into eighth place in career scoring at Cortland with 80 points on 33 goals and 14 assists

Franklin, the Defensive Athlete of the Week, played all 180 minutes in the Hawks' 2-0 week against No. 6 regionally ranked Plattsburgh and Fredonia. She was huge in a 2-1 win over the Cardinals, coming up with a diving stop in the opening minutes to keep the score at zeros and come up huge again with another save in the second half, tipping a shot just over the bar to help hold a goal advantage for the Hawks. She ultimately finished with seven saves in the win, while against the Blue Devils, Franklin totaled four stops in a 3-0 shutout.
