PITTSFORD, NY – Nat Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) finished 11th in the country in the 100-meter hurdles, while Chris Kaszynski (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) took 12th place in the pole vault, as the Buffalo State track and field teams wrapped up the second day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at St. John Fisher University.

Kaszynski competed in the opening event of the day, and had no trouble in clearing 4.60 meters on his first attempt. Shortly after, he cleared 4.75 meters on his second attempt. Faced with his season-best mark and school record of 4.90 meters, Kaszynski was unable to clear the height on three attempts. Just three of the 21 competitors were able to clear that height, as Dominic Mikula of Ithaca won the event with a mark of 5.05 meters.

Sawyer, fresh off recording the top qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles yesterday, was looking for more of the same. She posted a time of 14.05 seconds in the first heat, but could only watch as competitors in the following heats bested her time, falling less than two tenths of a second out of the qualifying spots for tomorrow's finals. Gustavus Adolphus' Birgen Nelson posted the top qualifying time of 13.47 seconds.

The Bengals will wrap up competition at the championships tomorrow, as Shevaughn Allen (Buffalo, NY/JFK) competes in the triple jump beginning at around 1:00 pm, while Sawyer competes in the 400-meter hurdles at 3:25 pm.
