Feature Friday: Coach Spotlight – Kelly Lickert-Orr, Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y – With lacrosse season underway, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has decided to do its Feature Friday on head coach of the Cortland women's lacrosse team, Kelly Lickert-Orr.

Kelly Lickert-Orr is in her fourth season as Cortland women's head coach. In her three seasons so far as coach of the Red Dragons, she has guided them to an impressive combined record of 57-7 (.891), three league titles, and three NCAA Division III tournament appearances, including a national championship in 2015 and a "Final Four" showing in 2016.

In 2017, she led Cortland to a 14-5 record and the team's 19th consecutive SUNYAC crown. The Red Dragons also earned one All-America award and tied for 17th nationally in the NCAA playoffs.

In 2016, Lickert-Orr's team started the season with a school record of 21 victories in a row before falling in the national semifinals. The team also featured three first team All-Americans, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), Division III Midfielder of the Year, SUNYAC Player of the Year, as well as the Inside Lacrosse Division III Co-Rookie of the Year.

During her first year at Cortland in 2015, she led the Red Dragons to an impressive 22-1 record and their first ever NCAA Division III national title defeating top ranked Trinity College. From all her success as coach that year she was named the IWLCA Division III National Coach of the Year, Empire Region Coach of the Year, the ECAC Division III Mid Atlantic Coach of the Year and the SUNYAC Coach of the Year.

Lickert-Orr had a lot of success as well before becoming head coach of the Red Dragons. Prior to Cortland, she was women's lacrosse head coach from 2011-14 at Keuka College, where she had an overall record of 52-11. She also has a strong overall collegiate record of 109-18 (.858) in seven seasons.

So far this season Cortland is 1-0 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
