CORTLAND, N.Y.- The State University of New York Athletic Conference has selected this week's Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week. Fredonia's Katie Yudin has been selected as this week's Pitcher of the Week, and Oneonta's Caroline Koch has been selected as this week's Athlete of the Week.
Yudin helped the Blue Devils to a 4-0 start at bat and in the circle as they participated in the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast this past weekend. The sophomore recorded two wins in two games with a 0.54 earned run average, while averaging just over eight strikeouts per game. She gave up only one earned run in both appearances. The Blue Devils will travel to Clermont, Fl. to participate in the Spring Games in the upcoming week.
Koch led the Red Dragons in batting average (.542), slugging percentage (.958), total bases (23) and doubles (4) in the first week of play for the Red Dragons. In her collegiate debut, she smacked two home runs, including a grand slam while driving in seven runs in a 26-2 blowout over Northland. The freshman played in all ten games for the Red Dragons at the Tuscon Invitational. The team will face Muhlenberg in a double header on the road this upcoming weekend.
