Phelps and Tesoriero selected as Men's Lacrosse Athlete and Goalie of the Week

CORTLAND, NY - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its Men's Lacrosse Athlete and Goalie of the Week. The winners were selected from nominations across the conference.

Devin Phelps from Cortland is this week's Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week. Phelps became just the sixth player in program history to reach 100 career goals and 100 career assists as the Red Dragons won two conference games last week. The grad student totaled 11 points on seven goals and four assists and now has 105 career goals and 1006 career assists for 211 points, which ranked him 10th all-time at Cortland. In a 17-7 home win versus Geneseo, Phelps recorded two goals and three assists as well as four ground balls. He then tallied five goals and one assist in a 19-8 victory at Potsdam that secured the top seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. For the season, Phelps has 46 points on 21 goals and 25 assists.

Donald Tesoriero from Plattsburgh is this week's Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week. Tesoriero posted a stellar .714 save percentage and a 4.18 goals-against average in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals, helping Plattsburgh State secure the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. He made 10 saves in a 14-2 victory over SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday before turning aside 10 shots once again in a 10-6 triumph over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday. For the season, he ranks third in the SUNYAC in save percentage (.597) and boasts a 5-4 record.
