
SUNYAC ANNOUNCES DR. DOLORES BOGARD AWARD RECIPIENTS
The women's award is named after Dr. Dolores Bogard, who was an administrator and coach at Cortland for over twenty years. She served as SUNYAC President during the 1987-88 year.

Recently named the 2019 Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year, Groat was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America third team this season as well as the Google Cloud Academic All-District III first team the last two seasons. Groat was selected to the first team All-SUNYAC (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016) and the NFCA Northeast All-Region (2018, 2017, 2016). She is the career program record holders in batting average (.420), slugging percentage (.620), hits (209), runs (144), total bases (309) and doubles (51). Groat finished the 2019 season ranked among the SUNYAC leaders in doubles (tied for third, 14), runs (tied for fifth, 32), batting average (sixth, .404), on-base percentage (seventh, .463), slugging percentage (ninth, .587) and hits (tied for 11th, 42). She also earned the Plattsburgh's Richard D. Semmler Award, which is given to the male and female seniors with the highest cumulative grade point average through the fall semester of their senior year. Groat is a Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society inductee. In addition, she taught at Project Connect, an after-school program in the Plattsburgh City Schools, from 2015-17.

Ramirez swept the SUNYAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field and Women's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year honors this year. She closed her Geneseo career with a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meter (17:07.34) at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships for her third All-America citation of the academic year. Ramirez also finished seventh in the 5,000 meter during the NCAA indoor championships after placing 25th at the NCAA cross country championships. She graduated with a 3.70 grade point average majoring in biology and was the 2019 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. Ramirez was voted the 2019 Atlantic Region and SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Runner of the Year while she owned the nation's sixth-fastest 1,500 meter time. She was also the 2019 SUNYAC outdoor 5,000 champion. Ramirez was the 2018 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year and the Atlantic Region Women's Cross Country Individual Champion (4x All-Region finisher). In 2017 and 2018 she was the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year and the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Individual Champion. In 2018 she was the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete (women's cross country) and 2019 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete (indoor track & field). She is a 2019 Phi Beta Kappa inductee.
