SUNYAC announces Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) chose Danny Coleman (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) of Cortland and Trevor McCarthy (Mohegan, N.Y.) of Brockport as this week's Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.
Danny Coleman batted .400 (4-for-10) with a homer, double, walk and three RBI in a 2-0-1 weekend for the Red Dragons. He homered in a 6-0 win at #22 Salisbury Friday and was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a 14-5 win over Penn St. Abington Sunday. The Cortland infielder will look to continue his strong offensive performance in the Red Dragons next games at the John Hopkins Baltimore Invitational on March 2nd and 3rd.
Trevor McCarthy has received the Pitcher of the Week honor for the second week in a row. He gave the Golden Eagles a strong start on Saturday when they battled against Baldwin Wallace. McCarthy pitched 7.0 innings of one run baseball, surrendering two hits, while striking out six batters in 106 pitches. Of those seven innings, three were 1-2-3 frames and McCarthy was able to work out of any trouble, forcing the opposition to leave six runners on base.
