
SUNYAC Announces softball athletes of the week
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its Softball Pitcher and Athlete of the Week. Fredonia's Katie Yudin (Liverpool, NY) has been selected as Pitcher of the Week, while Oneonta's Dana Del Genio (New Hartford, NY) has been selected as this week's Athlete of the Week.
Katie Yudin, a junior pitcher from Liverpool, N.Y., pitched two complete games over the weekend at Clermont, Fla. She flipped a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Elizabethtown. That was followed by a nine-inning effort vs. Concordia-Chicago that resulted in a 3-2 loss in which she allowed six hits and struck out 10. Yudin has a 1-2 record with a 0.65 earned run average in four appearances this season.
Del Genio led the offense last week as Oneonta completed its spring trip to Texas with eight games. Del Genio led the Red Dragons with a .448 batting average, 13 hits, 8 runs and a .724 slugging average. She also had five extra base hits including a home run while driving in five runs.
