Cortland and Plattsburgh take home Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week
CORTLAND N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Brian Corporan (Bronx, N.Y.) of Cortland and PJ Weeks (Bayport, N.Y.) of Plattsburgh as this week's Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.
Corporan went 3-for-4 with two solo homers, a double, a walk and three RBI in Cortland's 7-4 win Sunday at Stevens Institute. His two homers helped Cortland cut a 4-0 deficit to 4-2, and his bases-loaded walk in the seventh tied the game. He also doubled as part of a two-run ninth inning, barely missing his third homer of the game. Corporan also went 1-for-3 with a double in a win over Rutgers-Newark and finished the week hitting .571 (4-for-7) with two homers, two doubles, a walk and three RBI in two games.
Weeks took the win for Plattsburgh on Friday after coming in to pitch the last seven innings of the game against Bard. He recorded five scoreless innings and only allowed four hits, one run, walked two and struck out seven in their 10-8 comeback win over Bard College. Weeks and the Cardinals look to start stong as they will face Oswego in the first conference matchup of the season down in Lexington, S.C.
